Minorities in Norway are not familiar with the Norwegian outdoor, nature life. Outdoor activities are not only an important element in the lives of individuals, but also an important community thing. It is therefore important to ensure, strengthen and support minorities’ opportunities for outdoor recreation activities.

Outdoors recreation activities provide energy and mental and physical well-being, thereby preventing injury and illness. These include various forms of mental and psycho social disorders and problems.

Participation in an activity can have positive impact in many ways:
•    Socially, one gets group identity and community feeling;
•    Physically, one gets to move the body;
•    Psychologically, it strengthens self-esteem, identity and the concentration is enhanced.
